So I noticed today that I am almost at the bottom of a friends blog list because I haven't updated in, ahem, 6 months. So I am going to try and get better at this again as we have a lot going on these days. This post is short, but I will work on a catch up post soon.

11 Months!

Ashlyn is 11 months old today! I can't believe it has been almost a year.

At 11 months Ashlyn:

-Is a crawling machine! On her knees even!
-Pulling herself up on furniture
-Eating lots of table food, but doesn't really like a lot of it
-Still only has 4 teeth
-Babbling and telling lots of stories
-Loves to chase Buddy down

Buddy is also getting more brave, he will lick her face quick as he passes by now. Ashlyn loves it!

On another note, Chad's Dad got the call for a kidney and liver transplant last night. Right now he is still in surgery, but it sounds like everything is going good. More updates on that later......

I got the ads removed from my blog. I was messing around one day and ended up signing up for Adsense, which puts adds at the end of each post and on the side bar of your blog.

Oh yeah, and by the way, Ashlyn will be 11 MONTHS tomorrow! Wow in one month I will have a one year old. Crazy. She continues to keep us on our toes everyday. We had a rough night last night, she picked up some sort of stomach bug and was throwing up about every half hour last night between 9 and 12. It sucked. I had to wash a load of laundry this morning. We went through a few PJ changes last night (yes, me too). I have learned my lesson on posting what a good baby I have going to bed peacefully at 7:30 last night on my Facebook status. Anyway, she had a follow up Dr appointment today to check her ears. So to end on a good note, her ears are looking good. The infection is gone. So lets pray that was the last ear infection.

Al and Chad have been busy working on our deck the last few weeks. They are just about finished, so these pictures are not the most up to date. I will post more once we have the finished project!

Time to catch up.....again!

So it has once again been awhile since I posted. I have every intention of doing it all of the time and then it is too late or I am too busy and all that.

Anyway, Ashlyn has been a busy little girl lately! She started doing the army crawl about a month ago and she just started crawling on her knees yesterday. She also started pulling herself to standing by the ottoman. Chad said she has been doing this for awhile, but I have never seen her do it.

She also had her first visit to the ER and her first hospital stay (well second if you count her birth). I brought her in a few weeks ago Saturday night because she was struggling to breath. I was afraid maybe she was having an allergic reaction to something. We spent the day out at our friend Sarah's farm, so I wasn't sure if she had an allergy to some of the crops or whatever. Anyway, I was going to bring her to Urgent Care only to find out they closed at 5:00, so from the UC parking lot I called the 24 hour Nurse line. They had me count the number of breaths she was taking in one minute and told me it was way too many and that she should go to the ER right away. So we got there and she was still having issues breathing and had started coughing. They gave her a nebulizer treatment which made things worse. The Dr decided to have a chest Xray done to rule out pneumonia. After that, she was hysterical. They tried a few more neb treatments and then decided to admit her and call the on-call Peds Dr. The Peds Dr checked her over and her xray's and wasn't sure on the pneumonia so she wanted to keep her overnight to monitor her breathing and blood oxygen content. In the morning, the Radiologist ruled out pneumonia, but the Dr still didn't feel comfortable releasing her. The next on-call Dr came to see her and he decided that she was alright to go home. She even gave him some smiles! So after all that she was diagnosed with Croup and an ear infection. I am glad it was nothing serious but they did say she is more susceptible to croup now and told us what to do next time. Hopefully this is the last ER/Hospital visit we ever have!

I just don't know how those parents with severely sick children do it. I couldn't imagine having her in the hospital for long periods of time. I have a whole new view on those parents who continue to be strong for their kids, family and themselves while having a child in the hospital long term. Baby Jonah and Baby Stellan's families are some to definitely look up to! Thankfully both of those babies seem to be doing very well. Check out their buttons on the side of my blog. They are two of the most inspiring families I have never met.

I will be posting pictures tonight, I swear! I just have to unload my camera, I have lots of new pictures!

Aidan came to play while Melissa and Chad's Mom took Cam to Vikings Training Camp. I was a little worried about having two babies, but it went well. They played and then napped, doesn't get much easier than that!

9 Month Checkup

Ashlyn had her 9 month check up yesterday, she is doing great. Her ears are looking good, so her crabbiness and eating issues are due to her eye teeth coming in......FUN. Hopefully those little buggers pop through soon.

Here are her stats:

Height: 30" 99% - Woo Hoo! She is almost half as tall as me!
Weight: 19 pounds, 7 ounces 67%
Head: 18 1/4" 96%

Her next appointment in 3 months will be her 1 year checkup. I can't believe her fist birthday is almost here!

We are all moved into our new house, but not completely unpacked. Once I get the place cleaned up a little bit I will post some pictures.

Ashlyn has been a busy little girl lately! I finally have a chance to catch up on things, in between packing of course!

Ashlyn's first parade - Friendship Days in Nicollet - June 28thJust chillin'Ashlyn's first horse race - July 4th. She loved it! She stayed awake the whole day......

And then crashed after the last race...... Only to wake up again about 15 minutes later to have supper with some friends.....Becky made a makeshift hat for her, I forgot her other one in the car. So cute! She crashed again in the car, waking up just in time to stop and watch her first fireworks show in St. Peter

She was in awe of the lights, mostly the taillights on the cars driving by! LOL! She didn't mind the noise though.

I think she was quite amazed at all the lights around her and the booms!

Kylee reading Ashlyn a story in the pool - which has still not seen water yet! They both walked in the North Mankato Fun Days parade with us for Coldwell Banker. Ashlyn enjoyed the stroller ride and Kylee loved handing out candy. We were at the beginning so Kylee had plenty of time after to collect a big bag of candy and goodies!

And finally, she holds her own bottle! She has been able for awhile, but she just didn't think it was necessary since there was always someone else around to do it.

Our house is coming along pretty fast now. They have all of the sheet rock done, the ceilings are almost all sprayed, and the driveway is almost done. Woo Hoo! Less than 2 weeks to go!

Our garage looks bigger than our house, but really it is not, or at least I don't think it is! A bigger garage holds more 'stuff', which I am really good at accumulating. Ha, and Chad thinks he is going to keep a boat in there!

I can't wait until they get to the siding, I am still a little nervous about the Light Blue siding, but it does actually look a little more gray than blue. Hopefully it will look ok, at least our house will look different the all the other various shades of tan and sage green.

4 1/2 weeks until closing.....on our house and hopefully the new one!

Think again! I have given them to Ashlyn three times now. The first time she bit it in half and I got the chunk out of her mouth before she got it all the way in. The second time, messy but successful, she LOVED it......and so did Buddy, he got the remainder when she threw it on the floor. The third (and last) time, not good. In fact it scared the crap out of me. She was chomping away on it and then all the sudden she was choking. I had to dig a small chunk out of the back of her throat and she was still gagging so I took the highchair tray and dropped it on the floor (MESS) and tried to get her out of the chair just to realize she was fine. She probably just gagged from my finger being jammed in her mouth. She had a drink of water and she was happy. I, on the other hand, was completely freaked. The Biter Biscuits went straight to the garbage can. I guess we will stick to saltines from now on.

On a better note, when I went to check on Ashlyn this morning, she was soundly sleeping with her little butt up in the air! Do you think she will be crawling soon? I wanted to take a picture, but I didn't want to wake her up. I was hoping she was still sleeping like that when I was ready to get her up, but Daddy beat me to it. So no pictures, maybe she will do it again?

2 Years and Counting (Yesterday......)

Chad and I celebrated our two year anniversary yesterday! Wow has the time flown by! This year is already flying by too. Before we know it, we will be moving and Ashlyn will be turning ONE!

We didn't do anything fun for our anniversary, too busy and no babysitter. Oh well, maybe next year we can do something fun. We did however, pick out paint for our house. Super exciting I know!

Another update on Ashlyn, she started at Giggles -n- Wiggles daycare center on Monday and she is LOVING it! She is the only little girl in a room full of cute little boys! I think she is going to be one tough cookie! With a girlie streak I hope. I think she really likes being around all the other babies her age. Her Teacher said she just loves to smile and laugh at all the little babies. I think she is still adjusting to their schedule, but so far she has been all smiles. They said the only time she fusses is when they lay her down for a nap. She is not into the whole napping thing, she is afraid she will miss something. They do get her to take one 2 hour nap, so she is not too beat. She naps on the way home and then is read to eat and play again. I love it!

I know, a little behind, but we FINALLY SOLD OUR HOUSE! We will be moving July 24th (for all who like to help - hint, hint!). Here is a picture of our new house - or soon to be house. We are still waiting for a building permit so hopefully they will be building soon!

Ashlyn is finally sitting on her own! She is not very steady, but I can sit her down and leave the room and come back and she is still sitting! She doesn't always look comfortable, but she is doing it! She also has discovered she can roll over in the bath tub and she likes being on her belly WAY better. It makes bath time a little more difficult, so I have to wash her up fast and then she can roll over and play. I am guessing she is going to be a swimmer someday, she can roll in the water without even getting water in her mouth. One of these days I will have to take a picture of her, it is cute!

Once again, I promise to put pictures up soon! I keep forgetting, but I did put some up on Facebook, so check them out there!

Height: 27 inches (90%) - Once again I am pretty sure they measured wrong - she is almost 28 inches when I measure - oh well she is still well above average for height!

What has happened in a month?

Quick update....I haven't had time to get back on and people have now been harassing me because it has been....oh about a month! So here it is!
Ashlyn is doing great! I will have to post her 6 month stats later as I am at work (I know! On break right?) and do not have the numbers. So here is what she has been doing lately....

-Getting used to sitting in her "Big Girl" car seat. I finally found one I like after returning one - I got the Britax Diplomat. She seems to like it. We got the Graco Comfort Sport for Chad's vehicle, she hasn't tried this one out yet, so hopefully she will like it.

-Drinking out of a sippy cup - sometimes - when she is in the mood. This is very messy so we only do water. It took a few "models", but we finally found one that she will attempt to drink from instead of just chewing.

-She rolls everywhere! I think we need to put up the gate soon. Good thing we don't have any power cords within her rolling zone, she did discover one at Grammie's last weekend!

-She will not sit up on her own for more than 10 seconds. I know she can do it, I just don't think she wants to. She uses her Bumbo a lot, but has now tried to escape from it a few times. She gets very upset when she can't get out.

-She will not hold a bottle on her own, although I think she could. I think she likes it better when we do it. I have put the bottle handles on a few times, but she will only do it if I leave the room and she realizes if she really wants it she is going to have to do it herself.

-She has had two ear infections in one month, although she still seems pretty happy. We are now wondering if maybe the first medicine did not work, they gave us something different this time.

-She has 3 weeks left of daycare at Becky's. She will be going to Giggles -n- Wiggles in Mankato starting June 1st. We will be sad to leave Becky's but excited to go to Giggles -n- Wiggles - it looks like fun! She will stay there until she goes to Kindergarten.

-I think she is getting more teeth, she is drooling buckets again. She also is loving chewing on her mesh thing with a ice cube in it. I forgot what they are called, but they are great for teething babies. I guess you can put food in them too, but we haven't tried that yet, sounds messy!

-She had her first biter biscuit the other day, way too messy! She also was able to bite a big chunk off that I had to pry out of her mouth. This will be the first and last box of those I buy!

-She is now wearing 12 month size jammies because anything smaller is too short.

-Most of her 6 month pants look like capri's, good thing it is getting warm out.

-I used her stroller "rain coat" for the first time. Works awesome, looks silly. I should have taken a picture, but it was raining.

-Her favorite toy is this Vtech bee, that is very loud and gets very annoying. It responds to sound and squeezes and has a button on the front. But hey, whatever makes her happy - Daddy will just have to learn to like it!

Ok, that is it for now, I really should get some work done. Monday's suck!
I will try to get some pictures posted later today along with her 6 month stats. And I promise to try really, really hard to update this thing more than once a month.

Ashlyn has finally cut her first two teeth! They are barely there, but you can definitely feel them. She has been pretty good through the process, not too fussy, but running a temp most of the time. I will post pictures once you can really see them.

I added some links on my sidebar to 3 families that have experienced more loss and heartbreak than I could ever imagine. I think they are the strongest people I have never met.

Reading their blogs I have realized that my life is good if not great and I need to quit sweating the small stuff. I have a beautiful, healthy, happy baby girl and a wonderful family - immediate and extended.

I am counting my blessings today, as I am lucky to have many!
Be prepared, if you chose to read about these families, you will shed some or a lot of tears.

So lets all pray for these babies!

5 Months Old!

I am a little behind, but Ashlyn is 5 months old! Ok, 5 months and a week and a half. But we don't need to get technical. She is growing like crazy and doing new things all of the time. She is sleeping through the night finally - hopefully I didn't just jinx myself by saying that - she even put in a 12 hour shift one night! She has been eating solids for a couple of weeks now and we have found out she LOVES sweet potatoes and HATES carrots. She tried green beans tonight and wasn't too sure on them - but she did eat the whole bowl.

She really likes this baby! I might have to go find one. I gave her my Cabbage Patch baby last night and she just couldn't get her arm around it. She did manage to roll and turn and get the baby's foot and decided to chew on that. Goofy baby!

Sorry, a little behind!

Ashlyn figured out how to roll over last week! Now she is rolling all over the place. She can get pretty far as long as she doesn't get hung up on anything (like the bars on her playmat). She is not happy when she gets stuck! She also likes to roll in her crib and gets mad when she can't get any farther than one roll in there. She can only roll one direction, so you have to go in and as Chad calls it "reset her". It is amazing how far she can travel in her crib. You put her down at one end and she wakes up on the opposite end turned the opposite direction! What is going to happen when she can crawl???? I did buy a baby gate for the top of our stairs finally - I found one at a second hand store so it was only 24.95! What a deal and it looks brand new! I am not sure that it was ever even used, the hardware is all in its sealed package still.

Still no teeth, but definitely drooling buckets! She can soak a shirt in a matter of minutes if she doesn't have a bib on! I think teeth may be coming soon - although I don't look forward to the crabbiness and all the rest of the stuff that goes with it.

I have tons of pictures to post - hopefully I can find the time to do that tomorrow. We still haven't caught her giggling again, but I have the camera ready at all times in case she decides to!

Welcome Ella Sue!

Steph and Chris had their baby girl this morning - Ella Sue! She came into the world at 8 pounds 5 ounces and 23 inches long! Good thing she decided to come early or she would have been really big. Hopefully I will get to go see her tomorrow and I will try to remember my camera so I can post some pictures.

4 Month Checkup

Ashlyn had her 4 month checkup today and she is doing great! She definitely had a growth spurt. She had shots again, but they don't seem to bother her too much. She does have bruises on her little legs this time. She is still a happy baby though.

Here are her 4 month stats:

Height: 26 inches (97%)
Weight: 15 pounds 12 ounces (90%)
Head: 17 inches (94%)

At 2 months:

Height: 23 Inches (76%)
Weight: 11 Pounds 14 Ounces (78%)
Head: 16 Inches (90%)

At 2 Weeks:

Height: 22 Inches (99%)
Weight: 8 Pounds 13 Ounces (89%)
Head: 15 Inches (97%)

Ashlyn also started daycare at Becky's house today. Becky said she was a good little baby and she had fun with the other kids.

4 Months Old

Wow, time is flying by! I can't believe Ashlyn is already 4 months old. I don't have any pictures to post right now, but I will try to get some tonight. We were in Rochester all day yesterday with my Mom, so I didn't get a chance to take any pictures on her actual 4 month "birthday".

At 4 months.....

-She is still drooling like crazy, but no teeth yet
-Always smiling - so happy!
-Loves her jumparoo
-Rolls halfway, but decides the view is just fine from there
-Sleeping through the night for the most part
-Has her hair in a pony just about every day - so cute!
-I think she has finally come to terms with her car seat - we haven't had a screaming fit for quite awhile
-Tried cereal a few times, didn't go so well - we will wait to see what the Dr has to say
-She goes to the Dr on Monday, so we will have her height and weight stats then

On a side note, my Mom is doing fine, she had a heart attack on Tuesday and they ended up putting 3 stents in yesterday. She says she feels much better now and is just tired, she should be able to go home tomorrow and get some sleep.

Anyway, more to come later.......

8 - 5:30

Ashlyn slept from 8 to 5:30 last night! It was great, although I freaked a little when I woke up and realized she hadn't gotten up at her normal time (3:30-4:00). Hopefully she continues to sleep that long, and it would be nice if she would sleep until 6:30. Just in time to get up and get ready for daycare. Although, starting the 23rd she will be going to our neighbor Becky's house for daycare. That will be so nice! Chad can just take her across the street when they are ready in the morning.

Sarah had her baby boy yesterday afternoon. His name is William Joseph Schmidt, born at 12:13 pm, February 9th, 2008. He was 8 pounds 3 ounces, 22 inches long - same size as Ashlyn! I can't wait to go see them tonight after work. I forgot my camera, so I won't be able to post any pictures, but I am sure Sarah will have pictures on her blog as soon as she can. Congratulations Mommy Sarah, Daddy Steve and Big Brother Aidan!

We had a baby shower for Steph and Jen this weekend. We had a good time and they received lots of nice gifts. Steph is having a baby girl, Ella, in March and Jen is having a baby boy, Charlie, in April. How fun would it be to have your sister pregnant at the same time as you!

Bad Blogger

Ok, I know I have been a bad blogger. I get annoyed when people don't update their blogs often and now it has been a few weeks since I have done mine.

Not much has been happening lately. Ashlyn is doing great and growing like a weed. She is going to run out of clothes that fit if it doesn't start to warm up soon! She has started using the jumparoo at daycare so I brought ours upstairs yesterday and she loves it! She doesn't really get the bouncing part, but she likes being able to see what is going on.

We tried cereal a few nights and she is starting to realize that the spoon is not a bottle and that rice cereal tastes really weird. She hasn't had any the last two nights, so tonight we will have to try again.

She has been taking a bath in the big bath tub and she definitely has more fun than in the little baby tub. She can kick and splash like crazy! I had to drain the water and refill it one night because she was in there so long the water was getting cold, she was having so much fun that I had to let her play longer.

She also has learned how to blow bubbles, so now her shirts are usually soaked by the end of the day. It is really cute though. I will have to try and get a video.

Tomorrow I am taking the day off and Ashlyn, Taylor, Lisa, Amy and I are going to spend the day with my Mom for her birthday. That should be fun! We haven't seen them all since Taylor's birthday.

3 Months

I am a little behind, but Ashlyn turned 3 months old on Sunday! She is growing so fast!

At 3 Months......

-She weighs 13 pounds, 3 oz

-"Talking" all of the time

-Very smiley

-Starting to maybe think about rolling over

-Chewing on her hands and drooling like crazy - teething? Maybe.

-Growing out of a lot of her clothes

She also slept 8 1/2 hours last night! 8-4:30! However she did not want to go back to sleep at 4:30 so here we are sitting here wide awake at 6:15. Of course she will probably fall asleep as soon as she gets to daycare, but oh well. I at least got some pretty good sleep last night. Daddy of course is still in bed. That must be rough.

2 Month Checkup, Christmas, Smiley Baby

Ok, so I am a week behind.....but Ashlyn had her two week checkup last Monday. Here is where she is at:

Weight: 11 Pounds 14 Ounces (78%)

Height: 23 Inches (76%) - I thought this was not accurate so I remeasured her myself - I get 25 Inches!

Head: 16 Inches (90%)

2 Weeks Stats:

Weight: 8 Pounds 13 Ounces (89%)

Height: 22 Inches (99%)

Head: 15 Inches (97%)

Christmas was lots of fun - Ashlyn slept through most of it - but she got lots of presents! I forgot my camera (I know - BAD MOM!), but I did take some pictures with my Mom's camera. So I will have to get those from her and post them.....it could be awhile!

Ashlyn is two months old today! Wow time flies and she is growing like a weed. I tried taking some pictures on her tummy time leaf and in her bumbo chair. She was getting a little crabby so we will have to try some more later.

Ashlyn at two months is......
-Starting to smile "socially" - usually it is just a half smile (we haven't caught one on camera yet, but will keep trying)
-Starting to "talk" quite a bit
-Sleeping pretty well - although every third or fourth night she decides she wants to stay up from 2am - 4am

Work is going good so far, I am getting pretty tired, thank goodness it is Friday tomorrow!

Ashlyn goes for her two month checkup and shots on Monday, so hopefully that goes well.

Well, I go back to work tomorrow....I am not looking forward to getting up and being ready that early in the morning. I have gotten used to bumming around until about 9-10 o'clock each day. I am also going to miss 'Las Vegas' - the show I have become addicted to since I have been home. Maybe it plays at a different time? Otherwise, I will have to figure out how to work my VCR - wow, I haven't used one of those in awhile. Someday we will join the world of DVR's, but not until we move!

I am not too worried about leaving Ashlyn while I am at work. She will be in good hands with her Daddy. I am not so sure about the first day I have to leave her at Daycare, at least I have three more weeks before that happens.

I don't have any recent pictures (I know, bad mommy!) to post, but I will be sure to get some! Ashlyn will be two months old soon! Technically she was 8 weeks on Saturday - but December 18th will be her 2 month 'birthday'. I did take some pictures on Saturday with Ashlyn and Taylor, but they are on Amy's camera - so I will have to wait for her to e-mail them to me.

Only 10 more days to go until Christmas! Yeah, I am excited. I love Christmas!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

We have been pretty busy this last week, so I will try to catch up for the last few days.

Wednesday we went back to Austin to hang out with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Amy. On the way we stopped in to visit everyone at Mediacom. Ashlyn even stayed awake the whole time we were there! Too bad she slept pretty much the whole time at Grandma and Grandpa's. Grandpa even babysat for a little bit so I could go out with Mikayla.

Thursday we met Janet, Mikayla, Melissa, Aidan and Amy for lunch at Perkins. It was the first time I got to see baby Aidan, he is so cute! Ashlyn looks HUGE compared to him and he is a week older! We went over to Melissa's later that day to take some pictures of the two.

Friday the nurse from Nicollet County came over to visit with us and weighed Ashlyn - she is 10 pounds, 2 ounces! I can't believe she has already gained two pounds! No wonder she looks so big!

Saturday we went to the Coldwell Banker Christmas Party, Ashlyn got passed around quite a bit, but she did not seem to mind!

Ashlyn is one month old already! The last month sure flew by.

2 Week Checkup

Ashlyn had her two week well baby checkup today. She is perfect! The nurse said that and of course we agree..... She weighed in at 8 pounds 13 ounces - 89 percentile, her head measures 15 - 97 percentile and her height is 22" - 99 percentile. They did not measure her height again, they just went with her birth height.

Her next appointment will be her 2 month checkup in December - she gets yucky shots at that one!

Well, I am off to go hang out with the dart team tonight. I am not playing until next week, but I thought I would give Daddy a chance to have some alone time and I need some time with the girls.

Mom's Surgery

My Mom's surgery seems to have went well, it took a lot longer than they had planned due to some other issues they found while they were in there fixing the things they were aware of. We are not sure when they will release her from the hospital, she had some issues last night and has fluid in her lungs.

So we may be taking our second trip to Rochester today, this time we will be able to see my Mom for a little longer. She was pretty tired and drugged up after she got back to her room last night.

I am already starting to get bored being at home all day. Ashlyn is such a good little sleeper that I don't even need to nap during the day. She started sleeping in her crib instead of the bassinet and she seems to like it much better. She gets up about every 3-4 hours to eat and then back to sleep!

There isn't really anything else exciting going on. We will be making our first road trip tomorrow, my Mom has her surgery at Mayo in Rochester, so Ashlyn and I will be heading over there with Lisa and Taylor. They say it can take from 4-10 hours to complete the surgery, so we are hoping that it will only take 4 or so. It is a pretty routine surgery it sounds like, they complete at least 3 surgeries of this kind per day. So as long as all goes well, she should be in and out the next day.

Our baby girl is one week old today! I have not had the chance to get on since then, so here is the short story.....

My water broke about 3AM Saturday morning, shortly after Chad got home from work. We called Labor & Delivery and they told us to come in. We got to the hospital about 4AM and I was admitted. It was a long day, and she was finally born at 5:45PM on Saturday, October 18th. I was completely surprised that it was a girl, we were all so convinced that I was having a boy. Even the nurses thought so - based on the heartbeat. Chad decided it was going to be a girl a couple of hours before she was born, because the nurse was commenting on the amount of hair she had and his Mom brought in a little blue teddy bear right as I was starting to push. I won't go into any detail on the whole labor process - thankfully it is all worth it once you hear that first cry and they put your baby on your chest.

She came in at 8 pounds, 2.8 ounces and 22 inches long - I don't know how she ever fit in my belly! She also has a full head of dark hair......

38 Weeks 5 Days

Well, I went to the doctor today and there has been no change since last week. She did offer to try stripping my membranes to see if that would work, but I decided not to do that. If it did work then I would probably go into labor within 36 hours. Which means, my doctor would be gone, my Mom would be gone and Chad would be working at Big Dog. So, I go back in on Monday and we will schedule a time to be induced on Wednesday. So unless I go into labor before then, I only have one more week to go! I can handle that. I feel better just knowing that I won't go past my due date.

I am pretty positive it is going to be a boy. They hooked me up to a monitor for 20 minutes to monitor the baby's heart rate and movement and the highest it got was the 160's while he/she was moving. The nurse thought that it seemed like a boy's heart rate too, although that is not always accurate with all babies. They had to use a buzzer to wake the baby up at first, but after that the heart rate and everything looked good.

38 Weeks - No baby yet!

With only 14 days until my due date I am getting awfully impatient. I am feeling much better this week compared to last week. My feet are still huge and my back has been constantly hurting so hopefully this little one decides to come soon! I am getting nervous that this baby is going to be huge!

I went to the doctor on Tuesday, my blood pressure is back to pretty much normal. I am dilated to a 3 and 70% effaced. So pretty much I am not ready yet and I will go back to the doctor on Tuesday again.

My Mom informed me last night I have to have the baby by this weekend because she has to be gone for work next week. I would love to have a baby before the weekend, but I don't think that is going to happen!

Well it has been awhile since I last posted. We have had a lot going on. So I will try to do a quick catch up for now.

My Grandma passed away on September 16th, so we have been busy with her funeral and cleaning out her house and things like that.

Tanya and Keir got married on September 20th - Congratulations!!!!! Chad and I did not stay very long. It was hot and I did not feel very well. It was a nice wedding and Tanya looked beautiful.

I had my first baby shower on September 21st - Thanks to Mikayla and Melissa. It was fun and I got all kinds of things I will need very soon.

We are in the process of putting up the crib - or at least Chad is. Those things come in a million pieces! Once he is finished I will try to post a picture of the baby's room. It is pretty boring at this point because I don't want to pick out bedding and stuff until after so it is gender specific.

We had our 36 week appointment yesterday. It went good, but it sounds like I will be having this baby in about 2 1/2 weeks. My doctor thinks he/she is getting a little big. I am also very uncomfortable with my massively swollen feet and the baby is sitting right on my sciatic nerve so I have a pain shooting down my right side and my leg likes to go numb. I also had my first "exam" and this is what I found out:
-Dialated a little over 1 cm-60% Effaced
-Belly measures 37 cm
-The baby weighs around 6 pounds
-The heartbeat was in the 120's
So the heartbeat theory must not work - the heartbeat has always been in the 140-150's and now this time it is in the 120's. So what do they say....140's is a girl and 120's is a boy? So I guess that means I still have a 50/50 chance.

Childbirth Preparation Classes

We had our first Childbirth Preparation class last night. Actually my Mom attended with me, since Chad was "busy". It was pretty interesting, they talked about the last trimester emotions, aches and pains. I realized that I am not crazy, I can be this tired and not be able to sleep! That will only get worse before it gets better!

I have the baby's room pretty much ready to go, well as much as I can without being able to decorate anything. My Mom and I picked up the crib mattress last night and will be getting the crib in a couple of weeks. We have a bassinet all set up and ready to go to use right away.

We have an appointment on Wednesday to tour the hospital and get pre-registered and I also have my 34 week appointment on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see what my blood pressure will be this time. I don't think my hands and feet can get any bigger! It is a good thing I can wear flip flops because that is all I can fit into!

I think we finally have the daycare issue solved! We have a appointment with an infants only daycare center in Mankato. We toured it once already a while back, so we are going to take a look again and get registered. Thankfully they have an opening for January.

Update on Grandma: She is in a nursing home in Blooming Prairie now and seems to be doing better. She still has not gotten her speech back from the stroke, but she is able to move her arms and legs again and eat semi-solid food. The doctors say it can take months for her speech to come back - if it does, so we are still hoping she will improve in that area too.
I am going to try and have Kandi take some belly pictures for me tonight - so those will be posted today or tomorrow.

Also, Congratulations to Steph & Chris on their first baby due in March and Janet & Arik on their third baby due in April! Baby Luscomb will have lots of new playmates!

30 Weeks, 1 Day

I had my 30 week doctor's appointment today. Nothing too exciting, we listened to the heartbeat and it is in the 150's. I was told I had to cut down on the amount of glucose I take in. My glucose level from the gestational diabetes screening was 137 and 140 is abnormal, so I am pretty high. But it is nothing to get too worried about. This was also my last 4 week appointment, now I am on the 2 week appointments.

We are having a daycare delimma, we still haven't found a for sure place yet. We thought we had it all settled, but it turns out the place we were planning on is not going to work out. We looked at another place today that I thought for sure would be the one, but now after seeing it I am not sure. I think my expectations are just a little too high for these daycare centers. So I am not sure what we are going to do. We may just have a spot held at the center we looked at today and then in January check out some home daycares that have openings. It is a good thing Chad is able to stay home until we find something - that way we can be a little more picky. Hopefully at that point we will be settled in a new house in Mankato too!

I will have to try and remember to put some belly pics on tonight. It is getting pretty big! I am already worrying about getting rid of it as fast as I can once the baby is born. I think I am going to have a lot of work to do!

29 years (for me) and almost 29 weeks (for baby)!

I am not very good at keeping up with this! I am really trying to remember to keep at it, but things have been crazy! I thought since it is my birthday, I will make an effort today. Happy Birthday to me! I just got some pretty flowers from my wonderful husband (that thought today was the 31st this morning). They even have mini snickers in the vase - just what I need!

Lisa's wedding reception is tomorrow night, so I am heading back to Austin this afternoon to help get that all set up. It should be fun! I am hoping it is not really hot and humid. The heat is torture on me and especially my feet and ankles. At least my feet and ankle swelling goes down if I go in the A/C for awhile.

I got a letter from the clinic saying I passed my gestational diabetes test and my hemoglobin test, so all is going well so far. This baby is definitely growing and kicking and moving like crazy. I have my next appointment on August 13th and after that I start going in every two weeks. I think at 36 weeks I start going every week. Eleven or so more weeks and we will find out what the little one is! Then I can FINALLY go shopping for all those cute little outfits.

My Grandma is back in the hospital again. She was able to live at the Cedars for 4 days and was pretty happy about it. She had a stroke Tuesday morning and so far has not regained her speech or movement on her left side. So far she has not really showed any improvement, but she has not really gotten any worse either. The doctors told my Mom and Dad that she could still snap out of it, so I guess we will wait and see.

Well, I haven't been very good at updating this, it just slips my mind all of the time! But after a few reminders from Mikayla, I am updating it today.

We got back a week ago from Reno, NV, it was a good time and the wedding was perfect. Lisa and Taylor looked so pretty in their matching dresses. Taylor had some issues with the sand in her shoes, so she stopped midway down the "aisle" to try to clean them out and then realized she had sand on her hands too. Lisa and Dad ended up going around her to keep the ceremony going. They did break the record with a 4 1/2 minute ceremony! The pictures turned out really good, now they have the fun part of deciding what to order.

It is a good thing there is little humidity in Reno, because I don't think I could have handled the 100+ degree temperatures if it was Minnesota! The sky was a little smoky from the fires in California and a couple of the days it smelled like a campfire every time you went outside, but the day of the wedding it seemed to be a little clearer out than the other days.

I had another Dr appointment last week and had to drink the yummy orange mixture to test for gestational diabetes (Yuck!), seems the test must have come back ok because I haven't heard anything yet. The baby is growing just fine and I have gained another 4 pounds. I should be gaining about a pound a week for the rest of the pregnancy - yikes! That is another 12-13 pounds!

We celebrated my Dad's birthday last night. He is officially a senior citizen! Grandma Snider took us all out for pizza at Steve's. Grandma did not get moved into the Cedars this weekend as planned, but it sounds like she should be able to move shortly. I think she is in pretty good spirits about it, considering she is getting out of St. Mark's, which she hates.

I also found out a week or two ago that my friend Sarah is expecting her second baby in February. Congratulations Sarah and Steve!

We celebrated Lisa's last night out on Saturday night in Austin. We all had a great time and everyone had a safe and sober ride home (yeah, that was me!). I made it all night with them, although I did have my pregnant side-kick Mel to keep me company towards the end.

So they all survived a night a drinking with the girls and I survived a night of hanging out with a bunch of drunk girls!

You choose to "hunt" fish with a bow and arrow instead of a fishing pole. I just had to share this picture of Chad on one of his fishing excursions. This would be one reason to hope for a girl, although he could probably convert her to a redneck fisherman too!

So I came up with another girl name because Chad decided he didn't really like Ashlyn. I like Alexa or Alexis. My cousin Tony has a little girl named Lexi and my cousin Matt has a son named Alex (technically that is his middle name, but that is what they are going by). So I don't know if it would be too confusing to add another similar name to the bunch. I guess I have plenty of time to decide though!

20 days to go for Lisa's wedding! I can't wait for the vacation time and the wedding!

22 Weeks, 1 Day

Well, we had another ultrasound on Monday. The baby is doing good and measuring a little bit big (Already?), but my due date is still October 23rd. We did not find out if the little one is a boy or girl. I guess you have to let Daddy have his way once in a while. So I guess we wait until October to find out if the name will be Carter or Ashlyn. I keep dreaming that it is a boy, but they say you usually have the opposite, so will Maddie, Taylor and Abbie have another little girl to play with?

I also had an appointment with my Doctor on Monday and found out I gained A LOT of weight. She said it was ok, unless I gain the same this month. So I am up a total of 15 pounds - with hopefully only 10-15 to go. They say the baby will almost double in size the next few weeks, so lets hope that is the only weight I gain! Otherwise I guess it is diet time! Boo!

20 Weeks, 1 Day

Time is flying! I can't believe I am already half-way there, yet I still have so much left! So my belly is growing, I feel huge. I think this picture was taken at a bad angle - because I look huge! My wonderful husband is out fishing, again, so I had to take the picture myself.

The baby weighs about a pound and is measures about 8 inches. My ultrasound is scheduled for June 16th, so we should be able to get a good look at the baby. We are still going to wait until birth to find out what we will be naming the baby......unless Chad changes his mind by then.

I can feel the baby move quite a bit now, especially when I go to bed. I hope that is not a sign for what will come once the baby is here!

One year later....

We survived our first year of marriage. They say that the first year is the hardest, so we should have it pretty good from now on! :) Chad also did a good job on sending me a huge bouquet of flowers to work today, they are so pretty!

Now I wish I could go on another honeymoon! I am ready for another vacation, but I will just have to wait for Lisa's wedding. We leave for Reno, NV in 37 days!

I attended my first prenatal yoga class last night. It was very interesting. They teach you techniques to help keep you relaxed during labor (if that is possible!), they also teach you some stretching and strengthening of the abdominal, thigh and back muscles to help support the baby weight. I also learned that I am not very good at relaxing! It is harder than you think! They spend the last 15 minutes of class "coaching" you to relax. I started to get the concept towards the end, but then it was time to go.

I have released my first "belly" shot per Janet's request. It still looks like I have just been over-indulging in the cookies, M & M's and ice cream.

We put our house on the market yesterday! Thankfully we didn't have too much work to do to get it ready. It is kind of sad, but I am ready to move! We looked at three houses in North Mankato and really like one of them. So now we just wait and see what happens. This will cut about 10-15 minutes off of my drive time, it seems small, but every little bit helps!

A friend told me a while back that you are actually pregnant for 10 months. I thought no way, that can't be right and forgot about it. Yesterday I was reading a blog written by a friend of my Sisters and she too was told 10 months. So here it goes girls - it is not 10 months. Most people make the mistake of looking at the 40 weeks as 10 months, because 40 divided by 4 is 10. This would be true IF each month only had 28 days! So to make things easy, take the average number of days per month - 30.4. The 40 weeks of pregnancy is 280 days. 280 days divided by 30.4 is 9.21. So you are actually pregnant for approximately 9 months and 6 days.

Now that that is cleared up - is it ever going to be Spring or Summer?

New Beginnings!

We had our first doctor's appointment on 04/21/08. It was pretty exciting - we were able to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. It seems so much more real now! We go again on 05/19/08. We are still debating on finding out the gender of the baby - Chad doesn't want to and I can't wait that long! So I guess we will probably be finding out soon!
